Will E3 recover?

HEADLINES

E3 not popping. Event production company ReedPop will no longer be working on E3, after mutually agreeing to part ways with the Entertainment Software Association. E3 has not been held since 2019, and the ESA has also let the Los Angeles Convention Center know they will not be hosting the event there in 2024.

Switch: The Sequal. There are rumors that Nintendo has been demoing the tech for their next console, the Switch 2, for developers, including at Gamescom last month. While Nintendo has not officially unveiled the Switch 2, leaks suggest it’ll sport 12GB of RAM, which is more than the Xbox Series S. It’s also rumored to support ray tracing and DLSS.

Roblox Assemble. The 2023 Roblox Developers Conference (RDC23) kicks off today. The two-day, invite-only event brings together developers, creators, and brand partners for keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and networking. Those not invited can still watch most sessions virtually.

• ♟️ Supercell and Chess.com collab saw a total of 16 creators competing on two teams where the winning team’s creators will all get chess bots in their likeness on the site. The event was hosted in part with Ludwig Ahgren and resulted in a $50k donation to the Healthy Gamer Foundation.

• 🔥 Mortal Kombat 1 has given a first look at the Johnny Cage Jean-Claude Van Damme skin, during co-creator Ed Boon’s interview on Hot Ones.

• 🦸 Overwatch 2 released its new Hero Mastery Mode with the Season 6 mid-season patch, giving players new challenges and rewards.

• 🔍️ Eurogamer’s tests put Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 version as having similar graphical performance to the PC version on ultra settings.

• 🔌 Payday 3 will not have an offline mode like its predecessors.

• 🏈 Madden 24 was released almost a month ago, patched a few times, and still plagued with bugs.
